Professional Biography

Hello and welcome to Deepwater Jr. High’s Newcomer Program. We are so excited to have you and see you here in class! My name is Ms. Lindsay Austin and it is my second year here at Deepwater Jr. High, it will be my 11th year in the classroom. I spent 7 years in HISD teaching 5th grade math at Rucker Elementary and then transitioning to work with newcomer middle school students at Las Americas Newcomer School. I studied Spanish and Linguistics at Stephen F. Austin State University where my passion for educating and serving the Spanish-speaking community was truly ignited. Since I was young, I have had in interest in the world and have been fortunate to travel to over 20 countries! I love learning about people and their home countries, so this really is a dream job for me being able to serve students from around the world. I look forward to this 2025-2026 school year with your awesome students!
